FAQ

DO I ONLY BUY AND CONSUME ORGANIC PRODUCE/PRODUCTS?

I try to buy organic whenever possible, especially fruits, berries and greens. Thankfully it is getting easy to find them in almost every big supermarket! Having said this, I have experienced buying non-organic avocados that tasted a lot better than the organic ones. It has also happened with non organic cherimoyas, they were ten times more delicious! As a rule I do buy all organic, yes. If I can't find organic cucumbers or apples, for example,  then I will peel them before eating. Not all fruits and vegetables are affected in the same way by chemicals in agriculture. This useful list tells you which fruits and vegetables harmful if you don't buy them organic, and this one tells you which are ok to not buy organic as they aren't as heavily loaded with chemicals.

WHERE DO I BUY MY FOOD?

I go to the farmers market on Sundays to buy 90% of my weekly shopping which is fresh produce. I buy other things like grains, beans and legumes, sauces and superfoods in health food stores.

WHICH ARE MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANTS IN MALLORCA?

I absolutely love Ziva; a raw vegan food café with delicious smoothies, juices and sweet treats! Great vibes and really friendly staff. I also love Simply Delicious for the best falafel wraps in town, and Shogun for delicious plant-based vegan Japanese food options. A recent favourite is Santosha, a restaurant which holds pride in using only local and organic ingredients (many vegan and vegetarian options).

WHY DON'T I EAT GLUTEN?

Gluten tends to cause inflammation in the body, and it certainly doesn't make me feel my best. I am dealing with an autoimmune disease and it is really important for me to stay away from foods and products that cause inflammation.

WHY DON'T I EAT TEMPEH, TOFU OR TEXTURISED SOJA?

I eat them very occasionally. I prefer to focus my diet on non-processed fresh whole foods as they are full of life!

WHAT MEASUREMENTS DO I USE IN MY RECIPES?

I use cups (which is aprox 225 grams or 240 ml, but it tends to vary from one ingredient to another, I recommend that you google the conversion if you don't have a cup measure at home), grams, tablespoons (tbsp) and teaspoons (tsp).
